CHRISTIAN OUTREACH & MINISTRY
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: Peter 4:10
As a fundamental belief, Bayside Christian College holds that every person is the recipient of a number of spiritual gifts and that it is our obligation to use these in a positive, inspiring and caring manner for the benefit of others. The College provides many opportunities for our students to explore their gifts and then to use these to assist others through Service Activities and Christian Outreach.
Through these activities students learn about their gifts, their strengths, and their character and through this develop their leadership skills and qualities. Students learn real life skills, contribute to their communities and come to understand their obligations to others.
These programs connect the cognitive (The Head), the affective (The Heart) and the behavioural domains (The Hand) and enable us to grow, learn and make a measurable difference in the lives of others.
The programs connect to our approach to Teaching and Learning by:
- Promoting deep thought, appreciation and understanding of community issues;
- Engaging students in real life learning as an application of the knowledge and skills developed within the College;
- Providing genuine opportunities for reflection, understanding and growth.
These programs are essential in the development of the ‘whole child’ and provides an understanding that while the world exists outside of ourselves, every single person has the ability to make a significant difference.
This is our calling and our obligation.
