Beyond the Heart
It would seem that anyone with a computer can not only spread their message to the world at an unprecedented speed and coverage but do so without any checks and balances on their content. Through AI, deepfakes, and the like, one can now provide alleged ‘proof’ or ‘evidence’ of wild statements, and seemingly ‘justify’ their personal view, and sadly, like so many scams, we fall for the rhetoric and the story.
As adults, we have a far greater world knowledge, we have developed a healthy cynicism, or at least the ‘internal alarm bells’ to warn of danger – young people do not typically have these protective mechanisms, and so they can fall for strange ideologies, get caught up in hysteria, and believe in causes that are actually most damaging to them.
There are times at which there are issues of such significance in our world that we need to talk about them, we need to raise them ….. even if they are controversial.
This series of Articles “Beyond the Heart” is designed for such a purpose. The series will take some of the current social issues, those affecting our community, those affecting us as Australians, as Christians, and offer a range of thoughts and opinions. Sometimes potentially controversial, but only ever intended to create personal reflection and respectful dialogue.
These articles will be written by numerous people, some from our College and some from beyond, and the thoughts and opinions expressed will be their own. The articles will, however, be read and approved by an editorial
team, to provide some checks and balances in the quality and substance of the document.
Hopefully, you will find something of value in these articles, and I pray that you will find some to be suitable conversation pieces for home or with friends.
