Term 3 is shaping up to be an exciting and engaging term for our Year 6 students, with many wonderful opportunities and activities scheduled throughout the term.

A major focus this term has been preparations for our whole-school Market Day, which will be held on Wednesday, 19 August. This highly anticipated event serves as an important fundraiser, with students working towards raising money to support their end-of-year Year 6 celebration activities.

Market Day provides valuable links across several areas of the curriculum. Students have been applying their learning in English through persuasive advertising, while also engaging with concepts from our HASS Business and Economics unit. In addition, the event offers students meaningful opportunities to develop teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while demonstrating our Christian College values of Tenacity, Service, and Integrity.

In Week 4, students in 6Q had the opportunity to visit the Urangan Pier Market as part of their Market Day preparations. During the excursion, students investigated how local small businesses operate within a market setting and had the chance to engage with members of our local community. This authentic learning experience provided valuable insights into planning, marketing, and customer engagement. Students thoroughly enjoyed the excursion, and the knowledge and inspiration gained have positively influenced the planning and preparation of our own Market Day stalls.

We look forward to seeing the results of our students’ hard work and creativity at Market Day!
