A sense of belonging and a chance to use her skills to serve others have quickly made Bayside Christian College an ideal workplace for Hayley Campbell.
Miss Campbell joined the Bayside team as a groundskeeper in the maintenance team this year.
She is one of the many “behind-the-scenes” heroes who prove that Bayside’s culture of service and commitment to helping others extends beyond the classroom.
Miss Campbell describes herself as someone who loves giving back, and shares that she has always wanted to be part of a greater cause.
She has always sought out work opportunities that have allowed her to make a difference through her skills in maintenance, cleaning and hands-on work.
This has included yard work and house upkeep for people with special needs, and even a stint in pet cremation.
At Bayside, she sees her role as vital to the smooth and effective running of the school – ensuring facilities are clean and up-to-standard, and classrooms are ready for the day’s learning.
Miss Campbell and the other members of the maintenance team are usually the first on campus in the mornings, and their work can easily go unnoticed.
Without them, however, our gardens would not look as beautiful, our grounds would not be as clean and tidy, and our bathrooms would go unscrubbed.
Miss Campbell does not do her work for praise or recognition, and takes great satisfaction from making a difference through what she does.
She says her love language is acts of service, and she strongly identifies with the college’s core value of Service.
The caring and welcoming team have been a breath of fresh air for Miss Campbell, who recalls being greeted with a birthday cake on her first day.
At Bayside, we are blessed to have people like Miss Campbell on our team. People who work for the Lord and for others, whatever they do.
