Term 3 has been, and continues to be, a fun, exciting and eventful term for 4Q. Our eleven talented performing arts students enthusiastically represented the school at the WakakirriStory-Dance Festival, returning with several well-deserved accolades. Six students also proudly competed in the Australian Mathematics Competition, putting their problem-solving skills to the test. We then all enjoyed the NED Show, which encouraged students to develop a positive mindset and reminded us of the importance of persevering through challenges.
Last week was certainly a highlight, with students participating in the fun and much-loved Children’s Book Week Parade, Grandparents’ Day and Gala Sports Day. It was particularly special to see students proudly sharing their classrooms with their grandparents. Gala Sports Day was another wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy netball, OzTag and soccer while developing new skills, showing teamwork and enjoying a little friendly competition. Swimming lessons have also been a highlight, with many students making wonderful improvements in both their technique and confidence from week to week.
In the classroom, students have been busy learning about the fascinating biomes found around the world, exploring the important and never-ending water cycle, and discovering how to research, organise and clearly present facts in an information report. During Chapel, we have enjoyed a weekly study of the reassuring words of Psalm 23 (NIV), providing opportunities for reflection.
In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of tenths, hundredths, fractions, equivalent fractions and division. However, the favourite project so far has undoubtedly been creating their own ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ stories using hyperlinks in PowerPoint for technology. Students have thoroughly enjoyed being creative, making choices and seeing their stories come to life!
It has been a wonderful term filled with learning, laughter, creativity, challenges and many memorable experiences. What a fantastic term it has been for 4Q!
