Year 7 and 8 Visual Arts
This term, students are exploring the Surrealist art movement, with a focus on identifying and analysing its key features and characteristics. They are applying this understanding by incorporating Surrealist elements into their own artistic practice.
To date, students have examined the work of Salvador Dalí, with particular attention to The Elephants. Through this study, they have considered how Surrealist concepts are expressed visually.
Students will continue to develop their skills by experimenting with a range of materials, techniques, and approaches, enabling them to create artworks that reflect the distinctive qualities of Surrealism.
Year 9 and 10 Visual arts
Students in Years 9 and 10 are exploring the Steampunk art movement, examining its origins and identifying key characteristics across a range of genres.
Currently, students are experimenting with materials and techniques, including ink-based processes, as well as exploring creative approaches to incorporate Steampunk elements into their work, as demonstrated in their preliminary snail and ink sketches.
As the unit progresses, students will continue to investigate a variety of media and methods, culminating in the production of a final artwork that effectively reflects the distinctive features of the Steampunk style.
