Beyond the Books
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” – Plato
We believe that music is much more than a part of the academic profile of the College; music is heartbeat that both gives the College a rich depth and is the expression of it.
Every primary class has its own specialist music program incorporating strings, woodwind, drums and percussion and voice.
Senior students can excel in the music program as a General Subject, earning up to 4 QCE points.
Additionally, parents have the opportunity to enrol their children in specialist classes that provide individualised lessons during school hours.
Junior and Senior choirs perform at College events such as assemblies, Chapels, performance evenings and awards ceremonies.
College-wide events such as ‘Wakakirri’ and ‘The Lion King’ – the musical are major features in the College Calendar.
Wakakirri is Australia’s Largest Performing Arts Event for Schools with separate events for Primary and Secondary schools, and we proudly participate every other year.
Students can participate in either junior, secondary, whole-school, and Auslan choir practice and events. Practices are most often held before school.
2020 saw Bayside overcome the year’s pandemic challenges to produce and present ‘Maddagasscar’ – the musical.
