Learn By Doing

In Middle School, students make the most of Inquiry Based Learning opportunities. Learning experiences are designed to tap into a child’s curious mind in order for learning to be intrinsically motivated. Each student’s learning style and prior-knowledge provide information to direct learning goals and academic outcomes.

Teachers provide student-informed scaffolding which reflects the individual student. Classrooms are arranged so that community learning is facilitated, with on-topic discussion and collaborative learning being high-focus agendas.

Beyond the Books

Outdoor education enhances the growth of personal and social skills, promotes the development of environmental awareness and enables acquisition of skills that are not always accessible in the classroom. At Bayside Christian College there are many opportunities for students to engage in outdoor education and play.

In the Junior School students engage in outdoor learning, exploring and research. Our Junior School campus includes ovals, play equipment and ‘The Garden’. The Garden’s is a natural play area where children create their own playground, among trees, shrubbery, soil and grass. They are encouraged to use what they can find to build. Additionally this area is suplemnted by our vegetable patches.
