On Friday 20 March, Bayside Christian College will be celebrating Harmony Day. As part of this celebration, we will hold a whole-school assembly where we will reflect on the importance of kindness, respect, and the diversity within our community.
Students are invited to wear something orange, which is the colour that represents Harmony Day, or they may choose to wear cultural dress that celebrates their family heritage. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to recognise and appreciate the different cultures and backgrounds that make up our school community.
As a Christian school, our focus will be on reflecting on:
- God’s goodness
- The truth that we are all created in His image
- The importance that all people should be equally valued
- The tremendous diversity in God’s people, which is something to be celebrated
We will also reflect on Matthew 22:37–40, where Jesus teaches:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
“This is the first and greatest commandment.”
“And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Harmony Day provides a valuable opportunity for our school community to focus on the goodness of God, the beauty of diversity, and the importance of loving our neighbour.
