LIGHT AND TRUTH
The College produces an Annual Yearbook that highlights many of the wonderful activities that take place through the year. This publication stands as a celebration of our community and the many achievements of students and staff. Not only is this a book a beautiful reminder of all that has been celebrated, but it stands as Witness to our commitment to God’s Kingdom and His children.
The Yearbook was named “Light and Truth” in symbolic representation to the connection we have as a community to search out God’s Light and receive His Truth. This is explained below:
Psalm 43:3 “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.”
Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
The symbol of Light is used frequently in the Bible to symbolise God, Faith, and Holiness. As Christians, we are called to not only walk in the Light of Christ, but to be that Light for others, and in so doing to bring Glory to the Father.
Light and Truth are not two separate things; they are two aspects of the same. This Psalm however makes clear that we need not only Light or the Truth, but rather Light and Truth.
When we enter into a relationship with God, we are in the Light. When this Light shines on us, we receive the Truth.
As such, Light and Truth are one in the same. Through God’s Light, we learn and hear the Truth, and through receiving this Truth, we can indeed be a Light for others. It is through Light and Truth that we come to the community of believers, our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. In this, the Church is not a building but rather the body of Believers in the Lord’s Kingdom.
It is my greatest hope that our College will bring not only children to Christ but will open the door to Christ to all members of our family — staff, children, and parents — and all who call us their brother. It is my hope that through our actions, our teachings, our care, and our Witness, we not only live in the Light and Truth, but we are this to others.
With this dedication, it is my privilege to formally announce that the name of the Bayside Christian College Yearbook, will from now on be “Light and Truth.” May all we do in this College Honour God, celebrate His Creation and do His Will.
