About the Event

The College is excited to invite all families to join us for the 2026 Magical Migration Festival Parade, a much-loved community celebration and a highlight on the Bayside calendar.

This year’s theme, Magical Migration, invites participants to step into a glowing underwater world inspired by bioluminescent sea creatures, coral reefs, moonlit waves, jellyfish lanterns, and shimmering ocean life.

We warmly welcome our families to walk alongside the Bayside group and enjoy this special evening together.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, 29 August 2026
  • Meeting Time: Please meet us by 5:45 pm, ready to parade at 6:00 pm
  • Meeting Place: Large whale statue on the green near the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, City Park
  • Parade Route: From City Park, along Main Street, down the Whale Trail, past the roundabout, and through to the back of Seafront Oval for the Seafront Celebrations

Important Reminders

  • This is a family event, and children attending will remain under the care and supervision of their parents.
  • While College staff will be in attendance to represent Bayside, we kindly ask that parents:
    • Accompany their children throughout the parade
    • Keep their children close at all times, particularly as it will be held in the evening
    • Help us create a warm, safe, and unified College presence by walking alongside us in the parade

It would be lovely to have you join us and share in the fun, colour, and joy of this wonderful community tradition.

Student Participation

In preparation for the event:

  • We will provide students on the night with illuminating and glowing accessories to enhance the evening.
  • Families are welcome to enhance their child’s look at home with glowing or ocean-themed items such as battery-operated lights, sea creature costumes, or handmade lanterns.

Optional Activities

Prior to the parade, FCTE will host lantern-making workshops at City Park:

  • Time: 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm
  • For a small cost, participants can create their paper LED lanterns using a variety of materials, with support from expert artists on-site.
