In Science the Year 10s have been looking at the big picture – the origins of the universe, and how stars, galaxies, planets and other celestial bodies have come into existence. They looked at the apparent conflicts between science and Christianity, and learned to understand how the two can be looked at together without contradiction.
Year 7 began to look at forces, and to understand how forces can affect bodies by speeding up, slowing down or twisting. Experimenting with model cars and different surfaces, the students were introduced to friction, and how forces can act in opposition.
The students also worked on their first research project in Science, learning how to reference their sources, and what sources are suitable for use in a scientific research project. Doing their own research into the use of Forces, the students cemented their knowledge with a research report examining how forces work both on Earth and in space.
