As we move towards the final stages of the school year, several important curriculum milestones are approaching across the College. From Year 6 students exploring new elective opportunities to Year 12 students preparing for their final examinations, each stage has been carefully designed to support students’ learning, personal growth, and future pathways.
Building Confidence Through Year 12 Mock Exams
From 10–17 September, our Year 12 students will complete their Mock Exams for all General subjects. These assessments are far more than a practice run; they are an invaluable opportunity for students to experience authentic examination conditions, develop effective exam strategies, and identify areas requiring further revision before their external assessments.
Following the Mock Exams, students will receive detailed feedback early in Term 4. This feedback will guide their revision, allowing them to celebrate strengths while focusing on specific areas for improvement. By engaging in this reflective process, students are better equipped to approach their final external examinations, commencing on 26 October, with confidence and a clear understanding of how to maximise their performance.
Supporting Pathways into Senior School
Our current Year 10 students have now completed the SET Plan process and finalised their Year 11 subject selections. Beginning Year 11 in Term 4, students will commence a program tailored to their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
Selecting subjects is an important milestone, as it encourages students to consider future study, training, and career opportunities while pursuing areas they are passionate about. Students will initially study six subjects in Semester 1. Those who commence a Certificate II qualification (or higher) by the end of Term 1, 2026, may apply to reduce their study load to five subjects, providing additional time to balance vocational training alongside their school commitments.
Exploring New Opportunities Through Electives
One of the most exciting aspects of our curriculum is the opportunity for students to explore a broad range of learning experiences through electives. From Term 4, our current Year 6 students will begin their Year 7 electives, joining students in Years 8–11 as they transition into their 2027 year-level programs.
Electives play an important role in helping students discover new interests, develop practical skills, and challenge themselves beyond the core curriculum. Whether students are exploring creative arts, technologies, languages, humanities, or specialised areas of science and design, electives encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and independence. They also allow students to make meaningful choices about their learning, fostering greater engagement and ownership of their educational journey.
Families have received information outlining the elective selection process, with students making their choices during an extended Homeroom this term. We encourage families to discuss these opportunities together, helping students choose subjects that align with both their interests and future aspirations.
