CO-CURRICULAR – JUNIOR SCHOOL

At Bayside Christian College, co-curricular activities are an important part of a well-rounded education. While academic learning develops knowledge and understanding, co-curricular experiences provide opportunities for students to grow in character, confidence, leadership, and service.

Through participation in sport, music, performing arts, clubs, competitions, camps, community service, and other enrichment opportunities, students develop essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, communication, problem-solving, and perseverance. These experiences encourage students to discover and develop their God-given talents, pursue personal interests, and build meaningful relationships with others.

Such activities also serve as a genuine co-contribution to the academic program allowing the reinforcement and connection of the various academic objectives found in all subjects and allow students to put their learning into practice, to extend their knowledge and interest in specific fields, to try out new fun activities and to simply enjoy themselves.

To support busy families and those students who must travel home every day by bus, these activities take place every Monday afternoon, during school time, immediately after lunch. This timing provides the opportunities for all students and ensures no student misses out on this wonderful extension to their schooling due to after school commitments and obligations.

Co-curricular activities also foster a sense of belonging and school community, helping students connect with peers, staff, and the wider community in positive and purposeful ways. They provide authentic contexts for students to apply their learning, challenge themselves, and develop the confidence to contribute positively to society.

As a Christian school, we view co-curricular activities as an extension of our educational mission. They provide opportunities for students to grow spiritually, demonstrate Christ-like character, serve others, and pursue excellence in all areas of life. Through these experiences, students are encouraged to become capable, compassionate, and courageous young people who are prepared to make a meaningful difference in the world.
