FAITH, MEANING & PURPOSE
The following pathways and subject offerings exist for the development of faith and understanding of theology and its expression.
Religious Education: Prep-Year 10
The College’s Chapel Program is a planned and sequential journey of faith formation that begins in Prep and continues through to Year 12. It is designed to support students in developing a growing understanding of God, His Word, and His purpose for their lives, while providing opportunities for worship, reflection, and spiritual growth within the life of the College.
Throughout their years at the College, students gather weekly for Chapel Services that are age-appropriate, engaging, and grounded in biblical truth. Through the teaching of Scripture, students learn about God’s character, His relationship with humanity, and His redemptive plan revealed throughout the Bible. Central to the program is the study of the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, enabling students to understand the nature of God through the person of Jesus and His example of love, grace, truth, and service.
As students progress through each stage of schooling, the program builds upon previous learning, encouraging deeper exploration of faith, identity, purpose, relationships, character, and the meaning of life. Students are challenged to consider life’s big questions through a Christian worldview and are provided with opportunities to discover, develop, and express their own faith journey.
The Chapel Program also creates meaningful opportunities for students to engage in worship through music, prayer, reflection, testimony, and celebration. These experiences encourage students to develop a personal response to God and to participate in the spiritual life of the College community.
By the completion of Year 12, students will have engaged in a comprehensive program that has helped them develop biblical literacy, understand the Christian faith, explore the person and work of Jesus Christ, and reflect upon how faith shapes beliefs, values, relationships, and purpose. The Chapel Program seeks to inspire students to know God, grow in faith, and live lives characterised by wisdom, service, compassion, and hope.
Discipleship Now (Elective: Year 7-10)
Discipleship Now is a dynamic and action-oriented course that challenges students to live out their faith through service, compassion, and Christ-like leadership. Grounded in the teachings of Jesus, the course encourages students to move beyond simply learning about faith to actively demonstrating it in their daily lives and communities.
Students explore what it means to be a disciple of Christ, examining biblical examples of servant leadership, generosity, justice, humility, and love. Through the study of Scripture, students gain a deeper understanding of God’s call to serve others and to be His hands and feet in a world that needs hope, kindness, and restoration.
A key feature of the course is the opportunity to engage in practical service experiences that address real needs within the school, local community, and beyond. Students develop skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and community engagement while reflecting on the impact of service from a Christian perspective.
Throughout the course, students are encouraged to identify their God-given gifts, talents, and passions, and consider how these can be used to make a positive difference in the lives of others. They learn that discipleship is not simply a belief system but a way of life characterised by faith in action.
Discipleship Now inspires students to become compassionate, courageous, and servant-hearted leaders who seek to honour Christ through their words, actions, and relationships. The course provides a meaningful foundation for a lifetime of faith, service, and purposeful living.
Faith, Meaning and Purpose (Elective: Year 7-10)
Faith, Meaning and Purpose is a transformative course that invites students to explore life’s deepest questions through the lens of the Christian faith. Through the study of Scripture, students examine themes of identity, purpose, truth, relationships, justice, and hope, developing an understanding of God’s character and His plan for humanity.
Students engage with key biblical teachings, exploring how the message of the Bible has shaped individuals, communities, and cultures throughout history. They investigate the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, considering what it means to know, love, and follow Him in today’s world.
The course encourages students to reflect on their own beliefs, values, and experiences while developing a personal understanding of faith and its relevance to everyday life. Through discussion, reflection, service, and practical application, students are challenged to consider how biblical principles can guide decision-making, relationships, character, and purpose. A central focus of the course is supporting students in their spiritual growth and providing opportunities to develop a deeper relationship with Christ. Students are encouraged to explore questions of faith in a respectful and engaging environment, fostering both intellectual understanding and personal transformation.
