A word from our Principal
An interesting story popped up on my phone this morning as I was perusing the news of the day. It was entitled “From 140kg to 100km.” The article went on to explain how a Beerwah mother of two, who had weighed 140kg, decided to change her lifestyle 6 years ago. She began walking and changed her diet. It had been a long process but six days ago, on 16th October, she attempted the Blackall 100km run and won it! The article displayed a photo of her 6 years ago and a photo today. The difference was incredible.
My thoughts were – this would have taken so much effort and will power, and would definitely not happen overnight. But what a result!!
There are many things that happen in a school which seem to take a lot of effort, time and willpower. However, the result IS worthwhile!
We are so thankful that we finally have our Senior Block in operation. If you are available, please come and join us at 4pm on 29th October as we officially open the building and give thanks for its progress.
We are also in the process of proofreading our very first Year Book. Again, this has been a big project that has taken time and effort from many people especially our Marketing team; however, it will be so worthwhile on completion. The final page will be the Senior Formal on the 19th November. It will be sent to printers and, failing any problems, will be back to us by the end of December, to be distributed in early January.
In life, there are many things that take time, effort and willpower. At Bayside Christian College, we encourage staff and students to set goals that match their dreams and with God’s help, take time, effort and willpower to achieve great results.
Murray Hine Trophy Winners
The Physical Education department this year have implemented an exciting new program for year 10s, which requires all students to participate in achieving their Bronze Medallion or Bronze Star. This program is a valuable opportunity which engages students in learning and achieving a variety of water life saving components including water rescues and first aid. The Royal Life Saving Society of Queensland recently awarded our school as the “Murray Hine Trophy Winner”. This award recognises the school in Queensland with the highest number of participants. Congratulations to 18 of our teachers and students for achieving their Bronze medallion and 3 students for achieving their Bronze Star.

JC Action Sports Team
We were blessed to have the JC Action Sports Team visit Bayside last Friday. The Students enjoyed an action packed performance which included our very own Chappy Josh.

11/12 ICT
Students in the year 11/12 Information & Communication Technology subject have been exploring various types of interactive games. They are comparing and contrasting physical motion, accuracy and engagement using various console and virtual reality devices and applications. Students will use this research experience to assist in their own individual game level design for this unit of study. Who knew learning maths and physics could be so creative and fun!!!!!!!!

Spelling Bee
This weekend is the start of the Station Square Spelling Bee which sees schools from around the area compete against each other for prizes for the competitors and winning schools. Bayside Christian College has five teams entered across three year group categories. Students have been practising for the event over several weeks and are excited that it is now happening on Saturday. We wish all competitors the very best as they compete in this community event.

MULTISPORT PROGRAM NEWS
Hervey Bay Triathlon Club Race 3
There were big numbers at the Seafront Oval on the weekend for the third race of the local triathlon series. The sun was shining, the water was flat, and there were lots of BCC Multisport athletes in action. It was exciting for the athletes in U12 and above to trial a new timing chip system – it was even more exciting to see the final race times. Visit https://events.onetime.sport/event/1025/results to check them out! Double thumbs up to Hervey Bay Triathlon Club and Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving club for a superb morning of racing. Well done to everyone out there who took to the start line.
