Last Bayside Bulletin for 2021

As the school year draws to a close, we would like to thank everyone who contributed articles and photos to the Bayside Bulletin. This edition is our final one for 2021. All the best for a safe, happy and blessed Christmas and New Year. See you in 2022! From the Marketing Department.

A word from our Principal

To our wonderful Bayside Community,

It is such a privilege to get to this time of year when we celebrate ALL the achievements of the students at Bayside Christian College.

The talent displayed at the Cultural Evening was enjoyed by all who attended. The Choirs, the String Ensemble, the Auslan Choir, the Year 5 and 6 Band, the singers, the instrumentalists and the dancers bought so much pride to both staff and parents.

Cultural Evening

The Senior Awards Evening celebrated the Academic and Sporting Achievements of all students, particularly recognising those who had shone in Christian Character, Most Improved and overall Academic achievement for the Grade.

Awards Night

Awards Night

There were quite a few tears shed as the Year 12s of 2021 completed their Valedictory Assembly and Chapel Service. They certainly did us proud.

Hats in the Air

Then to share the Formal with our graduating students on Friday evening, was a real privilege. By the way they presented themselves, it is very clear that they have become young men and women who will become leaders in their fields. The future is looking bright. Celebrating achievements, no matter how big or small, and applauding triumphs is a sure way to refuel enthusiasm and keep motivated for future endeavours.

We pray that you and your family have a blessed and safe Christmas and we look forward to welcoming you back to Bayside on 24 January, 2022.

Spelling Bee

Bayside Christian College had five teams competing in the finals at the Station Square Spelling Bee. It was wonderful to see so many students representing Bayside Christian College in this community event. Again results were close in all of the semi-final rounds and it was wonderful to see two Bayside teams in several of those. The big winners of the day were our year five/six team consisting of Elizabeth, Abiguele and Taylor-Jo who won their semi-final and went onto win the grand final for their age group. They won after competing against 13 other teams from private and public schools across the district.

A big well done to all of those who competed!

9–12 Years Swimming Carnival

On Tuesday 2 November, the 9–12years swimming carnival was held at the Aquatics Centre. Students participated in a range of competitive and novelty races to earn points for their house. A great demonstration of sportsmanship and determination, along with a few outstanding achievements was witnessed at this annual event. The novelty races included blow up boats, duckies and pool noodles to win points for houses. The relay teams displayed some tough competition with a staff vs student relay at the end, highlighting the enjoyment had by staff and students. Congratulations to our age champions and our top competitors who will now participate in the district swimming carnival on Friday 26 November at the Aquatics Centre. We wish all these students the best of luck as they represent our school. Thank you to Mr Glover and all the staff for supporting this event.

Multisport Program

There is no better place to race in Queensland than Bargara! And what another stellar weekend the Bargara Triathlon Club put on for locals across the Wide Bay on November 7.

Over 15 Bayside triathletes raced in near perfect conditions – except the Give It A Try age group who had to battle the surf (but that makes it all the more fun!)

It was awesome to see Bargara first-timers Jaydee, Rico and Brendan out on the course with smiles on their faces the whole way.

Everyone in the Hatchlings and Turtles age groups were winners, each bringing home a token Bargara medal.

In the Give It A Try age group, the surf didn’t scare Noah or Abbey as they raced to a podium finish (2nd and 3rd).

What a weekend of fun! Well done to all triathletes.
