A word from our Principal
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1
It has been a privilege to watch the amazing Olympians in Tokyo as they see their hours and hours of gruelling training rewarded. One of the things that has been very obvious with gold medallist, Ariarne Titmus, is not only has she put in the hard yards of training, she is very capable of sticking to the game plan even when she is under pressure as she displayed in her triumphant ending to her 400m Freestyle. It was very entertaining to watch her coach, Dean Boxall’s victory reaction to her win.
The thought crossed my mind as to how this is so like our educational journey at Bayside. Teachers expend hours and hours in the planning, preparation and presentation of wonderful lessons and events to challenge the young minds of the students. Then, like Dean Boxall (but maybe not as dramatic), we get to experience the victory when students achieve their goals. Whether it be:–
Watching the Prep class experience and learn about Life Under the Sea …

Or joining the Year 1/2 class as they are challenged to complete Fast Maths in 7 seconds writing both question and answer …

Or watching the Year 4 class accept the challenge of learning 2-digit multiplication using the ‘turtle head method’…

Or watching the Year 8s exploring digital assets in Virtual Reality using the Unreal Engine …

Or the Year 9s (who could be our future Doctors), dissecting a heart and kidney investigating how the body system works …

Or the Year 10s challenging themselves in the Exercise Science Room of the New Senior Block …

Or the Year 10 Extension Maths class completing a challenging problem …

Or the Year 12s who have completed the challenge of their last Internal Assessment IA3 and are now preparing for the external exam …

Or the Aikido students who achieved their next level belts …

Even though we don’t always display it, as educators, we can identify with Dean Boxall’s unabashed exuberance, as we see our students strive and attain to such commendable levels here at Bayside Christian College.
I encourage all of you to take Hebrews 12:1 as your motto. Whatever the challenge that has been set before you, run with perseverance, energy and enthusiasm until your goal has been attained!

Food Technology Ocean Road Cooking Competition
Jessie Etherington and Charlotte Knight can be seen featured in the 2021 Calendar with their Cookies and Cream Creation that won them a place in the Ocean Road Competition. This is quite an honour as there were over 50 entries from schools all across Australia. Miss Clancy (Food Technology Teacher) and Mrs Farrelly (Teacher Aide) are very proud of the whole class for their efforts.
