WHAT IS AIKIDO
Aikido is traditional Japanese Martial art with its roots deeply embedded in Japanese culture.
Aki Ki Do loosely translates to “The way of harmonizing the spirit “
It is a soft martial art and we train true to ourselves while cultivating the spirit of peace, balance and harmony.
WHY AIKIDO
Training in Aikido teaches us acceptance and humility, as we learn to control ourselves and its power, and accept others without arrogance or ego.
HOW DO WE TRAIN
Students train to synchronize various movements of their bodies to achieve positive outcomes.
For example;
To control aggression or to restrain aggression not only from another person, but also within ourselves.
We practice traditional techniques to achieve a takedown or restraint using training partners. In turn, we accept a takedown and restraint from our training partner. This instils confidence and humility at the same time.
Aikido is a holistic martial art that builds confidence and a sense of community within the school setting.
These valued qualities then enrich our whole life and the people around us.
