This term in Technologies, students in 3T have been exploring structures and discovering what makes buildings and frameworks strong and stable. Through hands-on investigations, students learned that triangles are one of the strongest shapes used in construction because they help structures remain rigid and resist changing shape under pressure.
Students compared triangle structures with parallelogram structures and tested how each responded to different forces. They also investigated a variety of materials, examining their strength, flexibility, and rigidity. By analysing the properties of different materials, students were able to determine which materials would be most suitable for particular purposes and designs.
It has been wonderful to see students thinking like engineers as they tested, evaluated, and improved their ideas based on evidence from their investigations. Their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills have been on full display throughout this engaging unit.
